Pembrokeshire Schools Disability Swimming Gala

On Wednesday 20th January the Federation of Disability Sport Wales (FDSW) in partnership with Sport Pembrokeshire held the Pembrokeshire schools swimming gala at Fishguard Leisure Centre, the event was sponsored by Stena Line. Over 60 pupils competed in 29 races. Huw Griffiths the Swim Wales’ Disability Officer was present to spot talented athletes, who will be invited to compete at a regional gala at Swansea in May.  Mark and Ruth Watson coaches of the county’s disability swimming club ‘Pembrokeshire Puffins’ also attended, it is hoped that some of the swimmers will now join the Puffins

All competitors were presented with medals by Fishguard & Goodwick town Mayor Councillor Gwilym Price and County Councillor Sian James, certificates were also presented to Danielle Davies, Lauren Bell, Jodie Griffiths, Owain Beynon, Rhys Tyrrell and Jason Evans, year 10 GCSE Physical Education pupils form Ysgol Bro Gwaun, for their time keeping duties.

Angela Miles Pembrokeshire Disability Sport Officer was very pleased with the standard of swimming at the event and would like to thank Julie Evans and staff of Fishguard Leisure Centre for all their help.
