Welcome to Monmouthshire's page on the Disability Sport Wales Website.
My name is Mark Foster, Disability Sport Wales Development Officer for Monmouthshire. I am based at @Innovation House, Magor.
Within Monmouthshire there are currently existing clubs and provisions offering a variety of sporting activities for disabled people, ranging from Horse riding to Rowing.
If you are a coach or volunteer there is also the UK Disability Inclusion Training Course (UK DIT) which is currently available in Wales, courses run several times over the year so please contact me for upcoming dates.
In order to help support clubs deliver good quality sessions Disability Sport Wales have introduced insport. insport is a four tiered (Ribbon, Bronze, Silver and Gold) identification and accreditation process which any sports club can go through to show they are committed to providing and delivering inclusive sport. If you are a mainstream club providing inclusive sport already or would like to please contact me. Look out for the insport logo that highlights some of the most inclusive sports clubs across Wales.
I update the website on a weekly basis with news, events and up and coming courses to please check regularly!

Young ambassadors from Monmouthshire volunteered their time to sample Paralympic sports
08/12/2011
Young ambassadors from Monmouthshire volunteered their time on Tuesday 29 November to sample Paralympic sports with students from special educational needs units in Chepstow and Caldicot comprehensive schools.
The event, held at Chepstow racecourse, was organised by Monmouthshire Sports Development and Disability Sport Wales, the official charity for the Welsh Grand National in December. Students were joined by para-equestrian Georgia Wilson and champion boccia player Karl Parrish where they sampled sports such as rowing, goal ball and boccia.
Karl Parrish said: "Wales is a true sporting nation. Sport can improve your physical, psychological and social wellbeing, and that's why I feel it's important for us to showcase what is available for everybody to participate in locally".
With the 2012 Olympics and Paralympic games just around the corner, and the Olympic torch passing through Monmouthshire next May, the young ambassadors volunteer their time to promote sports in schools, raise awareness of the Olympics and Paralympics and encourage involvement in physical activities.
Monmouthshire's Disability Sport Wales Development Officer, Mark Foster said: "With the array of activities on offer at Chepstow Racecourse it is clear that sport is accessible to everyone, regardless of ability. Hopefully events like this and the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic games will encourage more people to get involved".
